A three person team of Darren Slade, Russell Shellard and Neil McAlpine took part in an ‘Adventure Race’. This was held at an Army barracks in Camberley. The event consisted of 16 miles of MTBiking, a 5K run, a 1 mile kayak, a 5K run and various energy-sapping obstacles between. Despite all three members suffering with acute cramping in the Legs towards the end in very warm conditions, the team finished 2nd overall against quite strong competition and only a few minutes behind the race leaders. Had it not been for the time lost nursing the cramped Legs the team would probably have finished first overall. A brilliant performance by all.

Neil McAlpine places third overall at the Elstead 5.5 mile X-Country. This small village race has seen a large growth in numbers over its four years of existance. This race had mostly consistd of local runners, but is now showing a good attendance by some very fast club runners from around the South. The main attraction that is drawing new runners each year is the fantastic 5.5 mile course which includes paths, tracks, mud, sand, and a river crossing.
